Post That’s that then
Seasons done. We limped to the end, not having a great year, but blooding in a few new faces and getting sorted for the next 2 years. A couple of losses and a drawn lions series were all a bit un all black, but it’s all good. We unearthed a beast on the wing, found a few fatties, and strangely produced the world POTY, who probably won’t be in the hunt for the NZ POTY. :D Ioane will probably get it, but I think Whitelock could be in with a shout as well.

Meat eaters and cons both look, well, shite tbh. :( Boks will have a new coach next year by the sounds of it, hope he can get their shit sorted. Wonder if the cons will keep their angry coach. :D

SH rugby needs the cons and meat eaters to get back to where they belong, below us and above everyone else. :D

In a way I am glad about the relative decline of Australia and South Africa. This is because it'll make global rugby a more competitive level playing field - not just for the Six Nations teams, but also 'emerging' countries like Georgia, Romania, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Japan etc. who no longer have to fear losing 90-0 to such teams every time they meet them.

So dumbing down rugby will improve it

Yeah that doesn't make sense to me, even if I wasn't a Saffer.
If a team doesn't want to lose 0 - 90, then improve; don't have the others drop their standards.

Having said that, this year was better than last year according to coach Allister. Even though we beat an uninterested France at home, a crappy France away, shitty Argentina and massively limited Italy.
As a whole 2 year period under his tutelage, we've been shite.

I suppose coach Allister sees drawing to the Wallabies twice is a sign we are on the up (even though we're down to 6th in the rankings).

Hopefully he goes and the messianic bleating going on for Rassie Erasmus taking over is justified....

Bok scorecard for 2017:
2 / 10.

Is it on the cards that he’ll go bro? Talk about it? Or just fan hope?

The media is carrying on about it like his dismissal is a done deal but Coetzee is adamant he's not resigning and his contact is until the end of 2019... But that might be a ploy to force a payout.
I'll believe he's gone when I see it.
I think his Saru review is the 13th Dec, so not long to go.

Only a week away, fingers crossed for the best.

No, that is why I said RELATIVE decline. In absolute terms both teams may be playing to a higher standard than in previous years, but the difference is that other teams are increasingly catching up and beginning to even usurp them. It is high time that rugby became as globally democratic and competitive as football and to an extent even basketball are.

 They most definitely aren’t playing to their standards of previous years, they’re playing shite bro. Their only saving grace is they are rebuilding, but so is everyone else. Some teams have caught up, but that’s also up for debate. If the NH teams crash and burn at the next WC then pretty much nothing will have changed.
